Microbiology
Dr. Amani Farouk Abaza, Professor at the Microbiology Department, High Institute of Public Health (HIPH); which is an integral part of Alexandria University & a unique institution in the Middle East that offers postgraduate degrees (Diploma, Master and Doctor) in the areas of Public Health.
She obtained her Ph.D. in Public Health (Microbiology) in 2004, and her Master Degree in Public Health (Microbiology) in 1999 from the HIPH. Her Bachelor Degree was from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University in 1994. She graduated from English Girls' College (E.G.C.), Alexandria, Egypt, Class1988.
Master Thesis Title "Antigen Detection for Rapid Diagnosis of Acute Bacterial Pneumonia in Children"
Doctorate Thesis Title "Bacterial Profile of Diabetic Foot Lesions with Reference to the Role of Interleukin-1"
She has 19 publications in the different fields of Microbiology with special interest in Medical, Clinical and Sanitary Microbiology together with Infection Control and Quality Control fields.
This research scientist with teaching, supervising, reviewing and community serving activities, is a member of the Egyptian Society of Infection Control. She had attended and participated in more than 56 conferences and workshops that focus on the various fields of Microbiology and Public Health.
