Currently, I am a Professor of Food safety and analysis, Faculty of Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture- King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah City, Saudi Arabia where I have been a faculty member since 2005. Previously, from 1988 to 2005 I has been a faculty member at the High Institute of Public Health, Nutrition Department Alexandria University, Egypt. I spent seven years serving as a food safety and analysis advisor at the Ministry of Health of Sultanate of Oman. I was assigned short assignments as a consultant through World Health Organization (WHO) to the Food Control laboratories of the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of Yemen and to Al Madinah Al Menorah Municipalities to train nationals on procedures in instrumental food analysis.
I represent the Environmental science department in the committee of Evaluation and Quality Assurance of the University Performance (EQAUP) and in the Academic Accreditation & Assessment committee at King Abdulaziz University.
I received my B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Alexandria University (1978) and my Ph.D. in Public Health from Alexandria University in channel collaboration program with the University of Quebec Montreal, Canada (1988).
The main research interests lie in the area of food safety and analysis of different food contaminants and Mycotoxins. Throughout the research, I collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of animal science, nutrition, agriculture, medicine, and environmental sciences.
